HADDA BROOKS "That's My Desire - The Best Of Hadda Brooks" CD

Features "That's My Desire," the song from the movie "The Smashing Machine"! A best-of album by Hadda Brooks, the beautiful Queen of Boogie who also had a career as an actress!

Modern Records was one of the largest independent R&B labels in the post-war era, having produced numerous big names such as B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, and Etta James. The very first artist on that label was Hadda Brooks. Modern Records was founded in 1945 by Jules Bihari, a jukebox technician, along with his brothers Saul and Joe, specifically to release Hadda's records. If it weren't for Hadda, the subsequent rise of Modern Records might not have happened. This best-of album features Hadda's biggest hit, "That's My Desire," which reached number 4 on Billboard's Race (R&B) charts in 1947. In addition to smooth ballads like "That's My Desire," it also includes plenty of powerful boogie-woogie that truly showcases the Queen of Boogie. This best-of album allows you to fully enjoy Hadda's versatility.

The title track, "That's My Desire," is used in the A24 film "The Smashing Machine," starring Dwayne Johnson (from the "Fast & Furious" series) and directed by Benny Safdie ("Uncut Gems"). The film, which will be released on May 15th, depicts the life of legendary martial artist Mark Kerr, who also achieved success in Japan.
