CARLOS JOHNSON & HIDEAKI TANAKA "Blues - It's Powerful Stuff" CD
Carlos Johnson, Chicago's most talented blues guitarist, and Hideaki Tanaka, a guitarist who was influenced by Carlos's playing, have collaborated closely on this collaborative album!
Chicago guitarist/singer Carlos Johnson has served as Otis Rush's right-hand man since his 2004 stroke, and his passionate performances as a solo artist have earned him immense support from Japanese blues fans. Admired by Otis Rush, he embarked on a musical career. In 1999, Japanese guitarist Hideaki Tanaka moved to Chicago, where he was deeply inspired and influenced by seeing Carlos perform live, and spent four years there. This album showcases the direct connection between these two master and disciple. From the instrumental opener "I Wonder Why," a signature Otis classic that Carlos inherited, to the closer, Jimmy Reed's "You Don't Have To Go," which Carlos also featured on a previous live album, the two engage in a lengthy conversation through guitar. The resulting album is both relaxed and intense.
