John Butler returns in style! The great Australian troubadour has completed his long-awaited new solo album, PRISM. From arena sing-along anthems to heart-wrenching soul ballads, Butler's deeply personal stories are woven into epic soundscapes for epic rock music.

One of Australia's most prolific independent artists, John Butler, has finally completed his third seasonal album, PRISM, following the contemplative work Running River and the instrumental album Still Searching.

"For me, this album is a cathartic journey, a celebration of leaving the John Butler Trio moniker behind and going solo, and a new sonic expanse as I continue to hone my musical journey," he says. The album title, PRISM, refers to a sonic and emotional "bandwidth" encompassing love, death, politics, inner and outer turmoil, and redemption. While based entirely around a band sound, the album was crafted as a fully solo album, with Butler and producer James Ireland (POND, San Cisco) sharing instrumental and production duties. It directly challenges the power of Butler's early "one-man-band" busking days and celebrates the bold fire of his raw talent. The album is simultaneously meditative and explosive, jubilant and free-spirited, funky, cinematic, and forthright.

After leaving the trio to go solo, John Butler has repeatedly explored his soul and introspected, arriving at a new rock sound. This marks the beginning of a new journey for this great troubadour.
