★World's first CD release ★First limited production ★Paper jacket specification ★Latest remastering
This 1998 album contains sessions from the late 70s that Weldon Irvin performed with Don Blackman and a young Marcus Miller! This masterpiece, packed with mellow jazz and soul, including the killer soul track "Morning Sunrise," sampled by Jay-Z, Drake, and others, is being reissued on CD for the first time in the world!
In the late '70s, Weldon Irvin was producing a string of rare groove classics, including "Spirit Man" (1975) released by RCA Victor, and "Sinbad" (1976), featuring the hit song "I Love You." This 1998 album is a compilation of recordings that Weldon Irvin made at the time with Don Blackman, who he worked with at the same time, and a young Marcus Miller, but which had not seen the light of day for a long time. This is truly a rare groove album! Starting with the superb mellow soul "Morning Sunrise" (M5) with Don Blackman's soft vocals, known for being sampled by Jay-Z, Drake, and others, the jazz funk "The Sisters" (M1) with Marcus Miller's groovy bass and Tom Brown's sharp trumpet phrasing, the mellow fusion "Heard It All Before" (M10) with its sophisticated melody and urban feel, and the superb funky tune "Think I'll Stay A While" (M3) with the positive and powerful vocals of Toni Smith, who is also known for the vocals on Tom Brown's signature song and the killer funk "Funkin' for Jamaica," which is synonymous with New York funk, are included, and many other songs that are not inferior to many famous songs! This is the world's first reissue in CD format! !
