Bluey's project "Citrus Sun", the leader of Acid Jazz - Jazz Funk's pinnacle, Incognito, has completed their long-awaited new album, their first in four years! Enjoy the superb acid jazz that has evolved to be even mellower and groovier!
Bluey, the leader of Incognito, continues to reign as one of the best acid jazz and jazz funk bands. His instrumental project, Citrus Sun, has a history of nearly a quarter century since it started, and has completed its long-awaited new album, Anaconga, for the first time in about four years. The album, named after a joke made by percussionist Joan Caetano, lives up to expectations, showcasing Bluey's outstanding sense of composition and arrangement and the band's solid performance skills. Opening with Maynard Ferguson's classic "Mister Mellow," the album includes many great covers, including a mellower and smoother arrangement of Erykah Badu's "Honey," Bobby Caldwell's "Down For The Third Time," which is full of respect for the original, and Ronnie Foster's "Mystic Blew," which has a much more groove-filled performance. Of course, the album is packed with original songs, including "Santiago," which was inspired by Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist." It's a masterpiece that shows off the best band in the acid jazz scene, with a mellow and funky groove that is full of charm!
