Diane Birch "Flying on Abraham" CD
The miraculous singer-songwriter/pianist Diane Birch releases her first original album in about 10 years, "Flying on Abraham." This is a unique piece of music that combines nostalgic yet modern songs with a deeper, more beautiful and dignified voice.
Diane Birch, an American-born, UK-based singer-songwriter/pianist who debuted in 2009 with her first album, Bible Belt, was heralded as a return of Carole King and Laura Nyro. Since then, she has established herself internationally with her second album, Speak a Little Louder (2013), and EP Nous (2016), and has been praised by such luminaries as Prince, Daryl Hall, Mark Ronson, Dave Stewart, Questlove, Elvis Costello, Bryan Ferry, and Stevie Wonder. Now, for the first time in nearly 10 years, she has completed Flying on Abraham, a collection of carefully crafted original songs. This work is a heartfelt homage to her wide-ranging and diverse musical roots, weaving together a rich tapestry of 70s AM radio, soul, jazz, classic rock, 80s/90s pop, and R&B. Evoking the likes of Carole King, Carly Simon and Rickie Lee Jones, yet with an authenticity and individuality that is unmistakably Diane Birch, and produced by British musician Paul Stacey, known for his work with Oasis, Noel Gallagher and The Black Crowes, Flying on Abraham is an incomparable album that reaffirms her status as a musical master.
