SYREK "Story" CD
Terry Syrek, the "evangelist" of technical guitar, who has collaborated with many super guitarists and nurtured the next generation of guitarists for a long time, unfolds a progressive sound picture scroll with a grand scale and astonishing technique that encompasses prog, metal, jazz and fusion! Accompanied by Marco Minnemann (drums) and Bryan Beller (bass) of the virtuoso trio The Aristcrats, keyboardist Lalle Larsson (key) who is active in the Nordic progressive rock scene including Karmakanic, and genius bassist Mohini Dey (bass) who was discovered by Steve Vai, this epic 13-song/77-minute work is finally being released in Japan!
After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1992, Terry Syrek has been active as a guitarist, composer, session musician, and instructor, nurturing the next generation of guitarists for a long time, and has even released a textbook, making him an evangelist for technical guitar. Now, 10 years after his previous album, "Machine Elves," he has finally completed his fourth album! Not only does Syrek's playing feature ultra-fast phrases with unparalleled precision amidst the rough seas of off-beat time signatures, but his songs unfold on a grand scale with emotional melodies that are never overly technical, and show the height of his maturity that only someone who knows the progressive sound inside and out can achieve! To bring this grandiose worldview to life, a lineup of super players from all over the world has come together, including Marco Minnemann (drums) from the virtuoso trio The Aristcrats, Bryan Beller (bass), Lalle Larsson (keys), a keyboardist active in the Nordic progressive rock scene including Karmakanic, Florian Criste (aviolin), a famous violinist from Romania in Eastern Europe, and Mohini Dey (bass), a new generation super bassist from India who was discovered by Steve Vai and was selected here in Japan as a live support for B'z. Mixing and mastering were done by Rich Mouser, who has worked with super bands such as Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, and Transatlantic, and he has created a fantastic sound that precisely balances the incredible energy of the performance without losing that energy. Hollywood actor Keith Szarabajka, who is well known for his role in the movie "The Dark Knight," narrates key parts of this epic progressive sound scroll, which is an instrumental work based on the concept of a "story" of two monsters going on an adventure. The Japanese version will finally be released!
