Light Mellow Searches, supervised by Kanazawa Toshikazu, is reissuing Ned Doheny's classic 1980s album, including the song "Whatcha Gonna Do For Me?", for the first time in about 10 years!
"Now that Ned is being re-evaluated, this 1988 masterpiece is back. A romantic masterpiece that instantly packages the fresh breeze of California and a blue, sweet voice." - Kanazawa Toshikazu
Ned Doheny's 1988 masterpiece "Life After Romance" is his only work from the 1980s, and follows on from the classics "Hard Candy" (1976) and "Prone" (1979). It's been a long time since the last reissue! The highlight of the album is his self-cover of the famous "Whatcha Gonna Do For Me?", which is well known for Chaka Khan and the Average White Band, but the album is also full of sweet, refreshing, and soulful songs that are full of Ned's style, from ballads to up-tempo songs, such as the title song, "Love's A Heartache," and "Heartbreak In The Making." The musicians who participated are of course superb, including Jimmy Haslip, Abraham Laboriel, John Robinson, Gary Mallaber, and Timothy Schmit. As with the 1999 reissue, this album also includes five bonus tracks, mainly acoustic versions from "Postcards From Hollywood"!
