BENJAMIN JEPHTA “The Evolution Of An Undefined” CD
This is undoubtedly the South African version of Black Radio! An incredible new talent has emerged from the current African jazz scene, which is suddenly attracting a lot of attention!
As a new source of high-quality and interesting music, current African music, not just "world music", is now attracting a lot of attention. In particular, this second album by Benjamin Jephta, a young bassist/composer from Cape Town, is a masterpiece that you should definitely listen to! It can be said to be South Africa's answer to Robert Glasper's masterpiece "Black Radio," which determined the current trend of the jazz scene, and its free sensibility that crosses over jazz, soul, and hip-hop, as well as its overwhelming imagination as a composer, are completely at the highest level of the new generation jazz world. Kyle Sheppard, a popular pianist who leads South African jazz, also participated, and the homage to Derrick Hodge and the beautiful female vocal songs in the style of Gretchen Parlato are wonderful, but first of all, I want you to be blown away by the overwhelming coolness of "Identity," which features local rapper Jitsvinger and female singer Eden Myrrh!
