BOTTLE TREE "Bottle Tree" CD
*Only available on CD in Japan *3 bonus tracks included
A mutant cosmic avant-jazz masterpiece that sounds like Sun Ra meets Stevie Wonder, now available exclusively in Japan on CD! A shocking work from Chicago's cutting-edge jazz label International Anthem, which also includes Jeff Parker (Tortoise) and Rob Mazurek! A miraculous sound that balances experimental spirit, groove, and melodic singing on a fine line!
In their home country of the United States, Bottle Tree is described as "what if Stevie Wonder, Don Cherry and Novos Baianos met in the 70s" and "what if they asked the Art Ensemble of Chicago to produce a hit song". This is a very striking debut album from Bottle Tree! The band is an unconventional trio consisting of singer/scholar AM Frison, cornet/multi-instrumentalist Ben Lamar Gay and drummer Tommaso Moretti. While their experimental spirit is similar to that of the great masters of free jazz of the past, they also make use of the gaps to create a modern, three-dimensional acoustic beauty, explore the beats with Afro-Brazilian influences, and above all, create a sound that is irresistibly stimulating and euphoric, and is impossible to classify into a genre! The release is by Chicago's International Anthem, which continues to release high-quality, cutting-edge jazz works, including Jeff Parker, guitarist of the post-rock band Tortoise, whose own leader album ``The New Breed'' released last year was also highly praised, and Rob Mazurek, a popular cornet player in the ``Chicago acoustic'' scene, so the quality is guaranteed. Although it was only released on cassette tape and digital distribution in the United States, it would be a shame if it wasn't listened to more widely...so it's being released exclusively on CD in Japan!
