Ambiance "(Gida Gida) Tight and Tidy" CD
Includes the popular song "The Clavicle," which was sampled by MF Doom, who is also known as a member of Madvillian, the unit with Madlib!
This treasured album released in 1981 by Ambiance, a little-known band led by Nigerian saxophonist Dawood Abubakar Balewa, is now available on CD for the first time in the world!
I had no idea such a wonderful album had been lying dormant! The album boasts high quality throughout, including "The Clavicle," which MF Doom sampled in "Yellow Dock," "There Is Love," which features the vocals of Syreeta Wright, a singer also known as Stevie Wonder's wife, and a cover of "Fiesta," a masterpiece by Gato Barbieri, a famous saxophonist from Argentina. It's a terrifyingly dense album that you wouldn't expect from a private album. It's a soulful, urban, and exquisite African fusion/jazz album that blends Brazilian groove and Latin flavors in moderation, and is perfect for the current era. It's a treasure that will surely appeal to fans of rare groove, Afro-jazz, spiritual jazz, fusion, and even hip-hop freaks! The original version is hard to find!
