Nothing But the Funk (NBTF), a Japanese-American funk band led by leading Japanese drummer Takashi Numazawa, has finally completed their first original recording in 25 years! Experience the raging funk groove!

Nothing But the Funk (NBTF) is a supergroup formed in 2000 by seven Japanese and American musicians: drummer Takashi Numazawa, who studied abroad in the United States and met Eddie M. (saxophone), Karl Perazzo (percussion), Raymond McKinley (bass), Nate Mercereau (guitar), and Steve Baxter (trombone), all former members of Prince and Sheila E.'s bands. Along with Toshiyuki Mori (keyboards), who joined Shikao Suga's band, Shikao & The Family Sugar, after returning to Japan. Having continued to work intermittently since then, the group has now completed their first original album in 25 years. Unfortunately, trombonist Steve Baxter, with whom they performed live and recorded, passed away suddenly in 2025, making this debut album his final work. However, it remains a thrilling, 100% pure funk experience. From heart-pounding high-speed funk to sticky grooves and hip-tingling mid-to-slow funk, this album is simply amazing!
