THE G/9 GROUP “Brazil Now!” CD
★Latest digital remastering
★Original liner notes with translation
Always touted as a "phantom album" until its first reissue in 2005, this is one of the greatest Brazilian jazz albums that made collectors cry until the very end! When you immerse yourself in the superb sound intertwined with the euphoric singing voice of main vocalist Valeria, you will feel like you are in heaven! It also includes a cover of The Beatles' "Lady Madonna" with an irresistible jazzy samba arrangement!
The G/9 Group is a one-off unit formed in 1968 by producer Henrique Ganteuman, who was shocked by Brazilian bossa nova at a concert held at Carnegie Hall in NYC for the first time, and gathered nine talented musicians with the pure desire to "deliver new music to the world". The chorus section adds spice to the sweet vocals of Valeria, and the band section performs comfortable arrangements based on jazz and bossa nova one after another, which are all great, making you feel like you're in a 60's movie! The song selection is also great, ranging from the famous songs "Dexia" and "P'ra Que Chorar" by Brazilian composer Baden Powell to the superbly arranged "Lady Madonna" by The Beatles, making this a great album for Brazilian music fans and casual listeners alike!
