IWAO TAN-MEN FUKUSHIMA ROCKIN' THE BLUES! "KC Jump" CD
He's been singing the blues for over half a century. Here is the true essence of Japanese jump blues performed by a stand-up singer! --Azuma Mitsuyoshi
In the 1970s, stand-up singer Fukushima Tanmen Iwao, who was active in the Fats Bottle Blues Band and then Japan's first jump blues band, Fukushima Iwao & The Midnighters, in the early days of Japanese blues, has resumed his activities in his hometown of Kyoto after a hiatus of nearly 10 years. In March 2019, he released his first solo album, "UNTIL NOW, AND NOW". In 2020, he formed Fukushima "TAN-MEN" Iwao Rockin' The Blues! with young members from his hometown of Kansai. He sings powerful songs, mainly jump blues and New Orleans R&B. Recently, he has been actively working on the translation of blues and R&B into Japanese with his ally Azuma Mitsuyoshi as chairman and vice-chairman of the Blues Japanese Translation Association.
