syanmonika “ToGe ToGe POP” CD

The long-awaited first album from Shanmonica, a mixed-gender, "Japanese-style" lo-fi pop band that has been attracting attention mainly in Tokyo for their alternative pop sensibility and their exquisite blend of melancholy and comfort!
Featuring three guests who have made their presence felt in the current scene, Tanaka Jacob (Yanushi), Toyoda Ryohei (Yumeriasora), and bearstape, they create a nostalgic yet new lo-fi sound that spans the genres from pop to alternative!

Formed in 2018, "syanmonika" is a four-piece mixed-gender band consisting of Sayaka (guitar & vocals), Mei (guitar), Nobu (bass), and Tetsumaru (drums). They started performing live in the Kichijoji and Shimokitazawa areas and released their first EP, "Hikaeme na Kokuhaku," in the same year as they were formed. Sayaka, who is also a folk singer, has a voice reminiscent of Ogawa Mishio (ex. Chakra), with a pop and melancholy feel. With their unique melodies that seem to combine the two, and their nostalgic yet frustrating lyrics that capture the everyday, they gradually gained sympathy from the indie scene, and in the following year of 2019, they won the audition slot for the "RINGO A GO-GO 2019" at the "Ringo Music Festival" and began to attract attention.

In 2020, their second EP "Henkei" further refined their alternative pop sense, and in this first full-length album, they collaborated with fellow indie scene leaders Jacob Tanaka (Yanushi) and Ryohei Toyoda (Yumeriasora). ), and bearstape! This long-awaited first album is worthy of being called "Japanese-style" lo-fi pop, expanding the band's cultivated sound into a more borderless style!
