ARTO LINDSAY "Invoke" CD
★Commentary: Nakahara Jin
★2 bonus tracks included on Japanese edition
More seductive, more sensual... This 2002 work could be described as an artistic <avant-mellow groove> that takes the sound world of "Prize" to the next level. A masterpiece indeed.
Arto Lindsay's 5th full-length album, released in 2002. Like his previous album, Prize, it was co-produced with Andres Levin and Melvin Gibbs and recorded in New York/Brazil. In addition to his friends Peter Scherer and Vinicius Cantuaria, he also features up-and-coming artists of the new generation such as Panda Bear and Brazil's Casim, and has even collaborated with Marisa Monte, the queen of modern MPB, and Nação Zumbi, the founder of "Mangi Beat." His sound has evolved and deepened to become more colorful and cosmopolitan. As exemplified by the opening track "Illuminated," the mellow sound-making with the allure of the night, the beats with a comfortable dynamism, and the fearless smile of the noise lurking within will take the listener to a different world of ecstasy. Art's singing voice is the most erotic and beautiful to date, and this is yet another masterpiece that clearly demonstrates the boundless potential of Arto Lindsay, who continues to evolve even as he ages.
