"I began working on this album with the desire to express the boundary where the inner world meets the outer world, and the space between sounds. I also had a lifelong desire to try manipulating time with music."
(From Jun Miyake's liner notes)
The rare musician Jun Miyake has created a new world of sound four years after completing his masterpiece "Lost Memory Theatre" trilogy, which can be said to be the culmination of his work in the 2010s!
Paris, Tokyo, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, Barcelona, Sofia... Perhaps it was the fact that they were at the mercy of the pandemic and were forced to record under a state of emergency that brought about the emergence of this "boundary where the inner world meets the outside world" - a space that cannot exist anywhere else?
Experience Jun Miyake's unique worldview, which has its roots in jazz and has cross-bred all kinds of musical elements, accelerating its development into a fantastical sound that transcends time and space, befitting the start of the 2020s!
Jun Miyake, who is active in a wide range of fields such as movies, stage plays, commercials, and even providing works for global events such as the Olympics, has released his latest album, his first in four years since "Lost Memory Theatre act-3" in 2017! The previous "Lost Memory Theatre" trilogy, which won the "Music Critics Award" and "Best Album of the Year" awards in music magazines in France and Germany, and was highly praised by media around the world, including Gilles Peterson's special program on the BBC in the UK, was a work of "objective perspective" in which the audience members invited to the theater relive the memories of various characters. If this work "Whispered Garden" is a work of "subjective perspective" in which a fantasy sound space is depicted as a world surrounding the protagonist (= listener) himself, as if he has wandered into a "garden" that exists between time and space and is never the same place and has a different appearance.
Expressing this unique worldview together with Jun Miyake are musicians who are indispensable to Jun Miyake's sound, such as Lisa Papineau, Arthur Assche, Vinicius Cantuaria, and Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria. In addition, this album will also feature Dave Liebman, a central figure in the New York loft jazz scene in the 1970s and a leading figure in the US jazz world today! The 16 songs, which were produced in collaboration with musicians from around the world, including Paris, Tokyo, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona, and Sofia (Bulgaria), will surely lead you to a new world of sound...
