Oghene Kologbo, whose father was the popular highlife artist Joe King Kologbo, ran away from home in his youth to join Fela Kuti's commune, and was selected as the guitarist for Africa 70 in his teens. Kologbo played as Fela's right-hand man until he left the band with Tony Allen and others after the famous 1978 Berlin live show. In 2017, Kologbo released his latest solo album! The album features a variety of artists across genres, including his friend Tony Allen, who plays drums on five tracks, Ghanaian highlife legend Pat Thomas, Jamaican deejay Joseph Cotton, and organic female singer-songwriter Ayo.
