The Awakening "Mirage" CD

★2020 latest remaster edition★ Both CD and LP are imported and available for domestic distribution

The last album by The Awakening, the only band produced by Black Jazz Records! A masterpiece that miraculously brings together 7 songs that dance freely and have completely different faces!

The Awakening is the only band released by Black Jazz Records, which has released many musicians. The band, which label producer Gene Russell fell in love with, is a spiritual jazz band representing Chicago, formed around Ken Chaney of Young Holt Unlimited and Frank Gordon of AACM in Chicago. This album, Mirage, was their second album released in 1973 and was their last album, and it is a work that squeezes out every last drop of the groove of "The Awakening". The album starts off with the opening "Mode For DD", which features a comfortable and skillful electric piano, alternative bass, and powerful saxophone, and the second song "The Ultimate Frontier", which lasts for about 10 minutes, has a unique worldview with a scream-like chorus and a mysterious and poisonous groove that clings to your ears and mind, taking you to another world. Furthermore, the album features seven songs with completely different personalities, such as the Spanish-style title track "Mirage" and the funky final track "March On," where each instrument goes wild, and each song features the band dancing freely and performing freely.
