CELIA "Celia (1970)" CD

*Direct import (Japanese commentary not included with this product)

The extremely rare 1970 first album by popular MPB singer Celia has been reissued for the first time in a long time!

This masterpiece features famous songs by Joyce, Ivan Lins, Toninho Horta, and others, beautifully arranged by the genius Arthur Verocai and Rogério Depraz. It also includes a cover of France Gall's club classic "Zozoi"!

Popular Brazilian singer Celia, known for her smooth, low-pitched vocals. Following the reissue of her second album "Celia" ('72), famous for the fact that all the arrangements were done by Arthur Verocai, Mr Bongo in the UK is also reissuing her first album from 1970, which is an equally great album! Joyce and Nelson Angelo (who were a married couple at the time) were actively involved in providing songs, and the album also featured songs by Ivan Lins, Antonio Adolfo, and Minas (street club) artists such as Toninho Horta and Lo Borges, making for a truly forward-thinking lineup of composers for the 1970s. Most of the arrangements were done by Tropicália's genius Rogério Depraz, with Verocai also participating on one track. I would also like to recommend Toninho Horta's timeless classic "Durango Kid" and "Lennon-McCartney," made famous by Milton Nascimento's singing, but the highlight of the album is undoubtedly "Zozoio," a cover of France Gall's French-Brazilian groove classic "Zozoi."
