Walter Bishop Jr., a renowned pianist known for his masterpiece "Speak Low" released in 1961, released his second album on Black Jazz Records under the name of his own band, "Fourth Cycle," and contains many songs that cannot be experienced under his solo name. The album opens with the jazz-funk tune "Soul Village," characterized by Walter's mellow organ and a fast-paced song structure, followed by the dark and Afro-inspired "N'Dugu's Prayer" with a sense of unease, and the groovy "Blue Bossa" with a speedy bossa nova as the title suggests, all of which are addictive songs that make full use of the band members' techniques! The blackness that permeates the entire album is irresistible, making this a unique album from Black Jazz Records!
