Vivian Jackson, aka Yabby U, is a unique figure in Jamaican music history. She had dreadlocks and was nicknamed Jesus Dread because she believed in Jesus despite being a Rastafarian. Steve Barrow, a reggae researcher who runs the British label Blood & Fire, which has released many reissues of Yabby U-related works, described her debut album, Conquring Lion (1975), as "the true foundation of Jamaican roots music," making her an indispensable figure when talking about roots reggae.
This 3CD box set includes his own compositions and productions, as well as his signature songs and classics, rare 7" and 12" mixes, and unreleased and dub plates! It also includes detailed liner notes and full translations by renowned reggae scholar David Katz and Alex Peacemaker, a longtime friend of Yabby U. This is the definitive edition!
